    The Story of the Wood: Bethlehem olive wood comes from one of the world's oldest olive-growing regions. Olive trees have grown around Bethlehem for centuries and are associated with peace, endurance and craftsmanship. The wood used for these pens comes from carefully pruned branches, allowing the trees to continue growing.

    I created this Portland L ballpoint pen from Bethlehem olive wood for larger hands or for those who prefer heavier and more substantial writing instruments. The pen uses standard refills, and to make the pen truly personal, you may add engraving such as a message, monogram, important date, name, nickname, company logo and many other details. You can find inspiration in our engraving examplesing.

    Pen dimensions

    This pen is called Portland L and it is the largest of the three pen models I make. The length of the closed pen is approximately 146mm. open pen, measured from the tip to the end, is approximately 131 mm. I s víčkem váží approximately 60g  podle toho jaký kousek dřeva se použije. Pouze část, kterou držíte v ruce při psaní má approximately 30-35g.

    Is this pen too large or too heavy for you? In that case, I recommend the Portland S, which are noticeably smaller.

     

     

    You receive more than just a pen,
    but a complete presentation

    Every pen is supplied in a gift cardboard presentation boxincluded with the order. Luxury wooden gift boxes are available separately as an optional upgrade. The package also includes a Certificate of Authenticity with information about the wood, the finish and confirmation that the pen was personally made in my workshop.

    Toto pero je vyrobené ze dřeva Betlémské olivy

    Olivové dřevo se vyznačuje krásnou kresbou. Každé pero je tak opravdu nezaměnitelné. Toto jsem si speciálně objednal přímo z Betléma.

    Betlémské olivové dřevo, které bylo během období prořezávání udržitelně získáváno z olivových hájů ve Svaté zemi. Toto každoroční ořezávání podporuje produkci nových větví a pomáhá olivovníkům zůstat produktivní. Při těžbě dřeva pro tento předmět tedy nebyly poškozeny ani zničeny žádné stromy.

    Pen refill

    I use blue refills from the German company Schmidt. The line width is F (fine). This is a so-called "roller", meaning a pen with a ceramic ball and ink refill. For this reason, the pen has a cap to prevent drying. This type of pen requires less pressure than a standard ballpoint and writes very smoothly..

     

    Personal engraving

    Each pen can be engraved with a personal dedication, message, or for example a monogram. K tomu mi slouží laserová gravírka. Také se můžete podívat jak vypadá text vygravírovaný přímo na dřevu, které se vám líbí. V this gallery you will find examples of most materials I use. If you want the engraving to be clearly visible, I recommend lighter woods such as teak, zebrano, padouk or olive wood. On wenge, American walnut or bog oak, the engraving will appear more subtle.

    Inscriptions are usually placed on the pen cap, either on the side or near the lower ring. 

    How to choose engraving

    Delivery time

    I send pens by Balíkovna for CZK 79, via Zásilkovna also for CZK 79, or by courier/Czech Post delivery to your address for CZK 128.

    I always dispatch orders promptly, usually no later than the second day after the order, payment or engraving approval. Usually, even a pen with engraving leaves the workshop within 24 hours of ordering and can reach you in as little as two days. The final delivery time then depends on the selected delivery service.

    Caring for Your Pera Novak Pen Is Simple

    Wipe with a soft dry cloth. Avoid prolonged exposure to water, direct heat and aggressive chemicals. The natural oil finish may be refreshed over time if required. More detailed advice on removing scratches or cleaning ink from the surface is available in our pen care guide.
